Old bt wiring colours. I have an old internal cable with blue red green cream and they have been pulled out of the socket screw downs numbered 2 3 4 5 which colours go to which number. Circa 1960 s i think thanks. The wiring instrutions that came with the socket state that it should be wired as.
Insert a 3 3k resistor between t4 t5. White wire of old line cord to t18. Additional bells are wired between pin 3 orange white and pin 5 white blue.
The determining factor for using the colors that they did had to do with the ease of identification along with the availability of dyes for cloth cordage. They contained conductors coloured blue to pin 2 orange to pin 5 brown to pin 3 and green to pin 4 if used on some conversions green was used for pin 3 and brown for pin 4. This applies to underground fed properties with older bt cable and bt overhead dropwire.
The oldest is slowly being abandoned in larger cables of more than 6 or 8 conductors because the new one is much easier to learn and is more flexible. Ie they wanted cheap easy to use dyes that were easy to identify. Here are the colors for small cables.
