4 way switch wiring diagram multiple lights. Bare or green ground wires are spliced together with a pigtail or two and then connected to the metal switch box with a 10 32 machine screw and to the green screw on the switch. The electricity source is connected to the 3 way switch first. The switch can be used to control the electricity supplying lights from three locations.

As with the other diagrams on this page more lights can be added by duplicating the wiring arrangement between the fixtures. Here the source and the fixtures come before the switches. For a 4 way light circuit to work you need two 3 way switches and at least one 4 way switch.

This diagram illustrates another multiple light circuit controlled by 3 way switches. If you want more than three locations to control the lights you will need a 4 way switch for each of those extra locations. Sometimes the switch wiring connection diagram is printed on the inside of the 4 way switch packaging box see example below.
